On 27 February 2005 the Chunghua Cheng He Hsuehui (Chinese Zheng He Society) was established in Taipei. The objectives are to conduct research on the Chinese culture relating to the Zheng He expeditions. Apart from doing research, the society will also organize seminars, conferences and interact with other associations on Zheng He. It will also publish the findings. General Liu Tachai (Liu Dacai) is its president, and Prof. Wu Jin is its honorary president. Currently it has about 60 members.
