Manfield
Zhu, Professor |
| |
| Numerous poems
scattered on the Silk Road should have been edited and translated
to form a great work. We selected merely 20 poems of them with the
translation of Prof. Xu Yanzong. Because there are very few of the
selected poems lacking of Prof. Xu's translation, we have no other
choices but to try to give a temporarily translation so as to make
up for the pity of lacking of translation. Prof. Xu had ever encouraged
me to translate Mr. Gu Yuxiu's poems with him, so I have the chance
to show my progress and shortcomings in face of Prof. Xu. My translation
maybe could not reach the standard of Prof. Xu's, but I think I was
given an opportunity of learning from Prof. Xu. Also my action express
my confidence that the planning of the Travel Silk Road should further
promote the exploring and researching on the rich cultural sediment
on the Silk Road, and a practical action to participate in and promote
the process of Sino-Western cultural exchanges. Selected Poems to the Silk Road 敕勒歌 A
